Honda unveils electric unicycle - Telegraph
All the driver needs to do is to lean slightly in the chosen direction – forwards, backwards or to one side – and the “personal mobility” device sets off on its single wheel.
The secret of the U3-X – with the U standing for both universal and unicycle – lies in the dozens of tiny motor-controlled wheels that are inside the larger wheel and enable it to turn in any direction.
The unicycle was unveiled in Tokyo by Honda’s president, Takanobu Ito, who emphasised that the vehicle was still in the planning stages.
“We believe this is the first step in realising the fun of human transportation and expanding that joy indefinitely,” said. “And if my legs get a little weak, I would like to have one of these around the house. It makes it easy to move about.”
